My Father in law has a muscle car and takes it to car shows... Its his pride and joy, we sometimes go to his events and see how both children and adults are still excited to see these cars in awesome shape.
Be sure to establish what defines a muscle car. What is the deviation? It's history? What is the difference beteween the traditional American muscle car vs. the modified hot rod or the contemporary modified honda? What are the specific geometrical/spatial properties that define these differences? Give examples of the mediated images which you describe. Steve McQueen in Bullet? The Dukes of Hazard?
Not sure if this is relevent to what you want to do, but maybe an analysis of the characteristics or "biology" that make muscle cars what they are. Perhaps comparing a '69 Mustang with an '05 or '06, when it was remodeled to more closely resemble the original 1960's models. What features did they carry over and why? Are these features found in other contemporary or historical muscle cars? What types of muscle car stylings did not carry over from the 60s and 70s into the contemporary reboots like the Mustang, Challenger, and Charger?
very nice presentation by the way, and i was thinking in regards to image of these cars, i cant help but think about who is driving these cars. I'd be curious to see if there was a way to document who was driving these cars in some way? maybe its too much but it would be interesting.
Dan's comment about the comparison of a '69 Mustang to a more recent model reminds me of the video Chris played for us. Maybe not quite as elaborate as that video, but it could be interesting to zero in on a detail that has changed significantly over the years.
What is the greatest city for muscle car enthusiasts in America? How does your sight compare? I think simply comparing how it's shape evolved over time is something that has been done before. Perhaps more abstract data such as horse power or MPG over the years might show some interesting trends that changed the market.
Nice. I like the idea of the map and the characteristics impacting the circumference. One thing I'd look into is collector plates and how that movement has evolved, and maybe what percentage of those are muscle.
Its a really promising thesis. how does the appearance of the auto correspond to the performance? What are the zero to 60 speed, horsepower and sizes, costs and gas mileage? These specifications could be used to compare the automobiles and tease out a targeted demographic. What autos had prominent roles in pop culture?
This project makes for a good concept, that can potentially contain a lot of details. I agree with nick, I think its important to define what a muscle car is. Not only what its perception is to everyone, but also to you personally.
Page 5 seems a bit illegible. page 1 and 2 seem to contain alot of the same information. Strong graphics, and informative. Is there a specific year that the muscle car era ended, or has it even ended with the reintroduction of the classical look.
